The Northstar Companies - A collections agency in Buffalo, NY. Systems administrator / web developer. Developed their online payment portal linked to an IBM iSeries mainframe over ODBC. Helped maintain 30 servers with the other systems administrator. Maintained telephony panels, managed network switches, Cisco routers, security systems including ADP and on-premesis video monitoring. Opened 2 remote offices in Florida and 1 additional office in Buffalo. Assisted friends of the family company with token ring maintenance.
The freelance years
2007 - 2018
Worked with an agency in Toronto, Ontario, Canada developing 30+ websites for various customers. Designed and built a custom CMS in PHP so that the customer could modify their website. This was before the time Wordpress as a content management system really took off.

Got involved with a local dentist and built a continued education website for dental students. We had about 3000 members when we parted ways. Developed in Angular 1.x and eventually moved it to Angular 2+. Attended dental conventions, produced marketing materials such as t-shirts, pint glasses, custom knit dress socks (seriously). Worked with various vendors such as ASDA (American Student Dental Association), Ivoclar. Henry Shein, and Patterson Dental.

Developed an iOS app in Objective-C for use during convention presentations to allow attendees to interact with the presentation host. Used Twillio API for this. Used Hubspot to future communicate the attendees.

Following a few tangents from the work we didn‘t get to finish due to the purchase of MHS by Fortna, Speedcat Logistics is a prototype Warehouse Control System (WCS) that introduces a custom built 3D human machine interface (HMI), an improved component building system that includes RTMP video streams, as well as Angular services abstraction allowing for the customization of the application via a few key value pair toggles based on the customers needs. Implemented as an Electron app to give it a more polished feel.

Got a pair of goggles with a heads up display. Wanted to wear them while driving to see MPH and RPM. Used their API in Swift to collect data from an obd2 bluetooth adaptor in the car. Worked well but the HUD part was a bit sub par to be practical.

3D printing and 3D modeling of various parts for around the house, automotive, etc... I‘m a fan of Shapr3D. Have used Anycubic, JGMaker, Creatily, and Bambu printers. Have worked with petg, pla, tpu. Drafted blueprints in Shapr3D for a waterfall by our pool, and our master bathroom remodel.

Had some fun making a first person shooter in Unreal Engine 5. learned world building, lighting, blueprints, using 3rd party assets. Applied the blueprint idea to some of my Angular projects to make them configurable via the UI.

About Me

I‘m Mario Giambanco. I‘ve been doing IT for a loooong time. Worked in a server room for a bit. That was kinda cool, pun intended. Opened a few remote offices. Did a lot of PHP. Some Wordpress. I‘ve been a Sys Admin and Dev Ops. Became frontend focused the last decade or so and got really good at it. Angular has become my bread and butter. Wrote this website in React to prove I could.

Based in a small suburb of Clearwater, St Pete, Tampa, FL. We choose not to participate in winter, sorry 😀 . Married, 5 dogs, 4 cats. If I‘m not working, find me by the pool or on the beach.
